Two inmates at the Newport News Jail Annex in Virginia escaped their cell Monday night using primitively made tools to create a hole in the wall and exploit a weakness in the jail's construction design. The preliminary investigation found that the two inmates used tools made from a toothbrush and a metal object to access rebars between the walls and then used the rebar to further their escape. The Newport News Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the incident and is urging anyone with information about the escape to contact them.
