Tyre Nichols, a 29-year-old Black man, died after a traffic stop in Memphis, Tennessee. An independent autopsy commissioned by his family has revealed preliminary findings that he suffered "extensive bleeding caused by a severe beating." The family has called for an investigation into the incident and for the officers involved to be held accountable, as well as a federal investigation into the Memphis Police Department's use of force policies. The results of the independent autopsy are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
