Seven California Highway Patrol Officers and Nurse Charged with Involuntary Manslaughter in Connection with Death of Edward Bronstein

Seven California Highway Patrol officers and a nurse have been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of Edward Bronstein, who died in 2020 after being restrained by multiple officers while they attempted to take a blood sample. Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón has stated that the officers had a legal duty to Bronstein and that their failure was criminally negligent, leading to his death. If convicted, the officers and nurse could face up to four years in prison.
