On July 4th, 2023, a Palestinian man drove a car into a crowded bus stop in Tel Aviv and began stabbing people, wounding eight. Hamas praised the attack as a response to Israel's military operation in the occupied West Bank, which the Israeli government has said is intended to protect its citizens from further attacks. Israeli forces have reported finding and seizing weapons and explosives, as well as destroying tunnels and command posts. An armed civilian shot and killed the assailant at the scene.
