The family of a 6-year-old boy who shot a first-grade teacher in her classroom at a Newport News elementary school has released a statement expressing their condolences and gratitude for the teacher's service. They also said that the gun their son accessed was secured at their home. Officials announced that the teacher, Abby Zwerner, was released from the hospital on Thursday.
