After a six-year search, an Illinois man was reunited with his daughter on Saturday, a case that was featured on the Netflix series “Unsolved Mysteries.” Ryan Iskerka’s daughter, Kayla Unbehaun, had vanished in July 2017.

The reunion came after an employee of a used clothing shop in Asheville, North Carolina, recognized the mother and daughter from an episode of “Unsolved Mysteries” and called police. Photos of the Unbehauns from the Center for Missing & Exploited Children posters were shown at the end of the episode called “Abducted by a Stranger.”

Rebecca Steinbach, a spokesperson for Iskerka and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, said in a phone call Wednesday that Iskerka’s priority is to make sure that Kayla is OK.

The girl was last seen in 2017, when she was 9 years old, in South Elgin, Illinois, a suburb west of Chicago. After the employee’s call, the mother was booked into jail on suspicion of child abduction.

Steinbach said that it has been a very overwhelming couple of days for Iskerka, but that it has also been a really fantastic couple of days. Iskerka is still trying to process that his yearslong nightmare came to an end.
