A suspect in a deadly shooting in Cleveland, Texas has been apprehended by law enforcement agents, officials said Tuesday.

Francisco Oropesa, 38, was taken into custody around 7 p.m. local time without incident, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said. The FBI, Border Patrol and U.S. Marshals were all involved in the apprehension, the District Attorney’s office said.

The attack happened near the town of Cleveland, where five people were shot and killed Friday night. San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers previously said the suspect shot his neighbors after they asked him to stop firing off rounds in his yard.

Oropesa has been taken to the Montgomery County Jail and is charged with first-degree murder, he said. The FBI said it was planning a news conference to discuss the arrest.

The arrest comes after an extensive manhunt for Oropesa, who had been on the run since the shooting. Law enforcement had searched for the suspect a few miles from the scene.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the San Jacinto County District Attorney’s Office both confirmed the arrest. Dillon had initially said authorities are awaiting fingerprints to confirm the person arrested is Oropesa.
