On Thursday, Fort Lauderdale’s airport remained closed for a second day as more than 2 feet of rain had fallen on the city, flooding roads and swamping cars. Hundreds of residents were forced to seek shelter in emergency shelters, and there have been 900 calls for service to the city’s fire department, including rescues.

The National Weather Service has reported an additional 2 to 3 inches of rain on Thursday.

Jeremy Ennis, who has been working in Fort Lauderdale for 23 years, was stuck on a city road in his car Thursday. He said, “I’ve never seen anything like this before. It’s just crazy. I’m just trying to get home, but I’m stuck here.”

Fortunately, no deaths have been reported due to the flooding. However, the city government has urged residents to stay off the roads and the airport remains closed. The full extent of the damage caused by the flooding is still unknown.
