Harlan Crow’s Real Estate Company Purchases Properties from Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, Raising Questions of Potential Conflicts of Interest

A real estate company owned by Texas billionaire Harlan Crow recently purchased a single-story home and two vacant lots in Savannah, Georgia. According to a state tax document and a deed dated October 15, 2014, the properties were purchased for $133,363 from three co-owners: Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, his mother, and the family of Thomas’ late brother.

This marks the first known instance of money flowing from the Republican megadonor to the Supreme Court justice. The transaction was first reported by ProPublica.

The purchase was made by the Crow company, which is owned by Harlan Crow. Crow is a prominent Republican donor, having given millions of dollars to GOP candidates and causes over the years. He has also been a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump.

The purchase of the properties in Savannah is not the first time Crow has been involved in real estate deals with Supreme Court justices. In 2017, the company purchased a house in Virginia for $1.2 million from Justice Neil Gorsuch.
