On Thursday, April 6th, a missing child alert was issued for two Florida girls, Jade Gregory, 12, and Khloe Larsen, 14. The girls were last seen in their hometown of Lake Butler, Florida, and were believed to be traveling on Interstate 10 toward Louisiana.

According to Union County Police Department Captain Lyn Williams, the girls had stolen Gregory’s father’s car and were intending to meet someone they had been speaking to online. Alerts were issued with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children for Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Louisiana, with special attention to areas around Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Fortunately, the girls were found the same day in Bayou La Batre, Alabama. Chief Deputy Capt. Lyn Williams said the girls had turned themselves in after seeing their faces on TV.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the incident, but the girls are now safe and back at home. The Sheriff’s Office is reminding parents to be aware of their children’s online activities and to monitor their online conversations.
