St. Petersburg Police Chief Anthony Holloway said at a news conference Friday that the boy’s father, 21-year-old Thomas Mosley, will be charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the killing of Jeffery and their young son.

Searchers, including dive teams and officers using drones, had been searching for the boy since Jeffery’s body was discovered. Police spotted an alligator in Dell Homes Park, which is just miles from the apartment, with an object in its mouth. After further investigation, authorities determined the object to be Taylen’s body.

The news of the tragedy has shaken the St. Petersburg community, and many are mourning the loss of the young boy. Mosley is currently in custody and is facing two counts of first degree murder. The investigation is ongoing.
