Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has warned employees not to give in to intimidation and threats in the wake of former President Donald Trump’s Truth Social rant that called for protests if he is arrested on Tuesday.
In an email to his employees obtained by Politico and NBC News, Bragg referred to “ongoing press attention and public comments” about an investigation by the office and reminded employees that their safety is a top priority.
Bragg said his office is coordinating with the New York City Police Department and the court to “ensure that any specific or credible threats against the office will be fully investigated and that the proper safeguards are in place so all 1,600 of us have a secure work environment.”
The email was sent after former President Donald Trump posted on social media that he expects to be arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation by New York prosecutors into a hush money scheme involving adult film actress Stormy Daniels and called on his supporters to protest any such move.
Bragg reiterated in the email that his office “will not tolerate attempts to intimidate our office or threaten the rule of law in New York.” He also said that the office is taking “all necessary steps to ensure the safety of our staff and the integrity of our work.”
The Manhattan District Attorney’s office is continuing to investigate the hush money scheme and is reportedly looking into whether Trump’s former lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen violated campaign finance laws.
