The FBI has increased the reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for planting two pipe bombs near the Capitol the day before the Jan. 6, 2021, riot to $500,000.
The components used to build the pipe bombs were widely available for purchase in-store and online, according to the FBI. David Sundberg, assistant director in charge of the FBI Washington Field Office, urged those who may have previously hesitated to contact the FBI or who may not have realized they had important information to review the information on their website and come forward with anything relevant.
The federal law enforcement agency announced the fivefold increase from the previously offered $100,000 reward on Wednesday. The FBI is asking anyone with information about the suspect to come forward.
