Five people were killed in a small medical plane crash in western Nevada late Friday, according to Care Flight, a service provided through REMSA Health.

The plane went off radar at approximately 9:45 p.m. local time near Stagecoach, Nev., a small town around 40 miles east of Reno and 15 miles west of Silver Springs. On board were a pilot, a flight nurse, a flight paramedic, a patient and a patient’s family member.

“We are heartbroken to report that we have now received confirmation from Central Lyon County Fire Department that none of the five people on board survived,” Care Flight said in a statement.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Department and the Central Lyon Fire Department are coordinating with the National Transportation Safety Board to determine the cause of the crash.

Care Flight said it is deeply saddened by the tragedy and is offering its condolences to the families of those affected. The organization is also providing support to its employees and the community.
