The 51-year-old actor was injured Sunday while plowing snow near Reno, Nevada. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday evening that Renner had been air-flighted to a nearby hospital.
Renner’s representative said in a statement to People that he had suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries. The actor underwent surgery on Monday and has since returned to the intensive care unit in critical but stable condition.
The statement from Renner’s representative also expressed gratitude to the medical staff, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve, and the Carano and Murdock families.
Renner is best known for his roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Hawkeye in the Avengers films, and for his Academy Award-nominated performances in The Hurt Locker and The Town.
Renner’s representative did not provide any further details on the actor’s condition or the extent of his injuries. However, they did say that Renner’s family is grateful for the support they have received.
