High Springs, Florida police officers have located two missing children from Missouri who had been abducted nearly a year ago. The children, a 12-year-old girl and 11-year-old boy, were found in a Winn-Dixie supermarket with their non-custodial mother, Kristi Nicole Gilley, 36.
The High Springs Police Department said that officers had been able to locate the two children after running a routine tag check on Gilley’s vehicle, which indicated that the vehicle’s owner was a fugitive. The officers located the woman, girl, and boy shopping in the store after disguising their identities.
The two children had been missing since March 15, 2022, the High Springs Police Department said. Gilley was detained and arrested on an active kidnapping warrant out of Clay County, Missouri.
The High Springs Police Department said that the two children are now in the custody of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and are being reunited with their family. Gilley is being held in the Alachua County Jail awaiting extradition to Missouri.
