The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced its 2023 nominees for induction, and the list is a diverse mix of country, soul, hip-hop, metal, pop, rap-rock and grunge. Among the 14 nominees are Missy Elliott, Willie Nelson, Kate Bush, Iron Maiden, Cyndi Lauper, Soundgarden, Sheryl Crow and the late George Michael.

John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said, “This remarkable list of nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honors and celebrates.” More than half of the nominees are first-time inductees, including Crow, Elliott, Lauper, Michael, Nelson, Zevon, Joy Division/New Order and The White Stripes.

The Cleveland-based institution also announced Rage Against the Machine, The Spinners, A Tribe Called Quest, The White Stripes, Warren Zevon and Joy Division/New Order as nominees for the 2023 induction. To be eligible for induction, artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has been inducting artists since 1986, and the 2023 nominees are sure to add to the rich history of the institution. Fans can look forward to the announcement of the inductees in the coming months.
