Dallas Zoo Investigates Suspicious Incident Involving Missing Emperor Tamarin Monkeys

The Dallas Zoo is investigating a suspicious incident involving two missing emperor tamarin monkeys. On Monday morning, the zoo’s animal care team reported that the monkeys’ enclosure had been cut open and the animals were missing.

The Dallas Police Department has been alerted to the incident and is conducting an investigation. A police department spokeswoman said a preliminary investigation revealed an intentional cut to the habitat.

The zoo said it searched near the monkeys’ habitat and across zoo grounds, but could not locate them. The animals would likely stay close to their enclosure, the zoo said.
