Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Investigating Possible Link Between Monterey Park Mass Shooting and Another Incident

A SWAT operation on a white van in Torrance, California, has been completed, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Enforcement Bureau. The operation was carried out in response to a mass shooting in Monterey Park, California, on Saturday night that left 10 people dead and 10 more hospitalized.

The Dignity Health Southern California division received two of the Monterey Park shooting victims, according to Christina Zicklin, a medical center spokesperson. However, due to HIPAA privacy laws, no further information about the victims was shared.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is continuing to investigate a possible link between Saturday’s mass shooting scene and another incident a few miles away. In response, the department is strengthening security at other Lunar New Year events in the city.

Major cities across the United States, including New York and Los Angeles, are also taking extra precautions ahead of Lunar New Year celebrations. It is still too soon to rule out a hate crime as the possible motive, the sheriff’s department said.

The investigation into the Monterey Park shooting is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
