President Joe Biden said Thursday there was “no there there” following the discovery of classified documents and official records at his home and former office.
The documents were found on four separate occasions — on Nov. 2 at the offices of the Penn Biden Center in Washington, on Dec. 20 in the garage of the Wilmington home, and on two occasions in January at the Wilmington home.
Biden, speaking to reporters during a tour of the damage from storms in California, said he had “no regrets” on the handling of the documents and the administration’s decision to not confirm or disclose their existence until they were reported two months later.
When asked why the White House didn’t disclose the documents before the midterm elections, Biden said he thinks they’re going to find out “there’s no there there.”
“We found a handful of documents were filed in the wrong place,” Biden said. “I think you’re going to find there’s nothing there.”
The president said he was “fully cooperating and looking forward to getting this resolved quickly.” He added that he had “no regrets” on the handling of the documents.
