UConn Women’s Basketball Team Ends Nine-Year Drought with 12th National Championship Victory Over South Carolina

The University of Connecticut (UConn) women’s basketball team has reclaimed its position at the pinnacle of college basketball by securing its 12th national championship. The Huskies achieved this milestone by defeating the defending champions, the South Carolina Gamecocks, with a decisive 82-59 victory on Sunday. This triumph marks the end of a nine-year championship drought for UConn, which last won the title in 2016. The championship game, held at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, saw standout performances from UConn players, particularly Azzi Fudd and Sarah Strong.
