Honda is recalling more than 2.5 million vehicles due to a potential issue with the fuel pump inside the fuel tank. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the fuel pump may fail, leading to stalled engines and increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall includes several popular models from Honda’s luxury division, Acura, such as the MDX and RDX sport-utility vehicles, and the TLX and ILX sedans. It also includes 2018 through 2020 editions of some of Honda’s most popular vehicles, including Accords, Civics and CR-Vs.
Honda said that dealers will replace the fuel pump module for free as a remedy. This recall comes only one day after Honda recalled about 106,000 CR-V hybrid sport utility vehicles because of a battery cable problem that can raise the risk of a fire during an accident.
The NHTSA urges owners of affected vehicles to contact their local dealer for more information. Owners can also check the NHTSA website for more information about the recall. Honda said it will begin notifying owners of affected vehicles in late June.
