Donald Trump Jr. to Testify Again in $250 Million Civil Fraud Trial as Defense Begins Presenting Case

Donald Trump Jr. is set to return to the witness stand on Monday as lawyers of former President Donald Trump begin presenting their case in the $250 million civil fraud trial. Trump Jr. was previously called to the stand on Nov. 2 and Nov. 3, when the state was presenting its side of the case. Trump Jr. is expected to testify for a second time in his family’s civil fraud trial in New York on Monday, when the defense will begin calling witnesses.

Trump Jr. and his siblings, Eric Trump and Ivanka Trump, downplayed their roles in preparing the so-called statements of financial condition detailing their father’s assets. Trump attorney Chris Kise said last week that Trump Jr. would be their first of the former president’s oldest sons, who currently run the Trump Organization, to be called back as witnesses.

Prosecutors rested their case Wednesday while reserving the right to recall Allen Weisselberg, the Trump Organization’s former chief financial officer. Weisselberg and the company were hit with tax fraud charges in 2021 by the Manhattan district attorney’s office. He testified he relied on the Trump Organization’s accountants for the financial statements that are at the center of the trial.

The $250 million civil fraud trial poses threats to the Trump family’s real estate empire. Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Ivanka Trump, and former President Donald Trump were all called to the stand after Trump Jr.’s first appearance. It is unclear how long the trial will last, but it is expected to continue for at least several more days.
