Manhunt for Suspect in Mass Shooting that Left 18 Dead and 13 Injured in Lewiston, Maine

Authorities are searching for a suspect in a mass shooting that left at least 18 people dead and 13 others injured in Lewiston, Maine on Wednesday night. The suspect has been identified as Robert Card, 40, and is considered armed and dangerous.

In response to the tragedy, officials in the area are urging residents to stay home and shelter in place. Mayor Jason Levesque of the neighboring community of Auburn, Maine, told CBS Mornings, “I urge everybody just stay home, shelter in place be with your family and friends at this time.”

According to a timeline provided by authorities, the shooting spree began at 6:56 p.m. at a Lewiston, Maine restaurant and a nearby bowling alley that was hosting children.

Maine State Police Col. William G. Ross said during a news conference Thursday, “If you come into any contact with this individual or someone that you think looks like this individual, you are to call 911.”

Alert protocols have been expanded beyond Maine, with authorities in Massachusetts and as far as New York issuing warnings to residents.
