Former Trump Campaign Adviser Jenna Ellis Pleads Guilty in Fulton County Election Investigation

Former President Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign adviser Jenna Ellis has pleaded guilty to a single count in the case brought by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. Ellis, a senior legal adviser to Trump’s campaign, is the fourth of 19 defendants charged by Willis in August to plead guilty.

According to a copy of the plea agreement, Ellis has agreed to plead guilty to one count of aiding and abetting false statements and writings. At a hearing in Fulton County Superior Court, a prosecutor with Willis’ office said Ellis had agreed to cooperate with the investigation and provide testimony per the agreement.

In exchange for her plea, Ellis will receive five years of probation and have to pay $5,000 in restitution to the state. The plea agreement comes after Ellis played a top public role in the effort to reverse Trump’s 2020 election loss.

The plea agreement has prompted former President Trump to distance himself from Ellis. Trump has yet to comment on the plea agreement, but his campaign has released a statement saying that Ellis was never a part of the campaign’s legal team.
