Detroit Police Department: No Evidence to Suggest Fatal Stabbing of Synagogue Board President Was Motivated by Antisemitism

The Detroit Police Department released a statement on Sunday that there is no evidence to suggest that the fatal stabbing of Samantha Woll, the board president of Detroit’s Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue, was motivated by antisemitism.

Chief James E. White said in the statement that the Detroit Police Department (DPD) is working with the FBI to forensically analyze all of the information obtained up to this point in an effort to ascertain the timeline that ultimately led to Ms. Woll’s death. He added that people with information that can help further the investigation are being interviewed.

Samantha Woll, 40, was found stabbed outside her home Saturday morning. Funeral services for her were held Sunday afternoon.

Chief White said that no evidence has surfaced suggesting that this crime was motivated by antisemitism. He added that the investigation is ongoing and that the DPD and FBI are working together to find out what happened.

The Detroit Police Department is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them. They are also asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area to come forward.
