Biden Expresses Condolences to Families of American Citizens Killed in Israel-Hamas Conflict

At least 11 American citizens have been confirmed dead in the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel, President Joe Biden said in a statement on Monday.

The president said that the United States government is still working to determine the whereabouts of other American citizens who remain unaccounted for.

The conflict began this weekend when Hamas fighters raided southern parts of Israel, killing hundreds and taking hostages. In response, Israel has continued to launch retaliatory bombardments on Gaza.

“The pain these families have endured, the enormity of their loss and the agony of those still awaiting information is unfathomable,” Biden said.

The president also expressed his condolences to the families affected by the violence, saying “My heart goes out to every family impacted by the horrible events of the past few days.”

The United States government is working with Israeli officials to obtain more information on the whereabouts of American citizens and to ensure their safety. Biden urged both sides to de-escalate the conflict and to work towards a lasting peace.
