The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said Miles, from Washington, D.C., and Michael Lynn Davis, 20, were both arrested after gunfire was exchanged between people in vehicles just off the Strip, Tuscaloosa’s campus-adjacent nightlife district. Miles is the only person involved who is connected to the University of Alabama.
The victim was identified as Jamea Jonae Harris. The University of Alabama athletics department released a statement Sunday saying, “We were made aware of the recent charge against student-athlete Darius Miles, and he is no longer a member of the Alabama men’s basketball team.”
