Kraft Heinz Recalls 83,800 Cases of American Processed Cheese Slices Due to Potential Choking Hazard

Kraft Heinz has announced a recall of 83,800 cases of individually wrapped Kraft Singles American processed cheese slices due to a potential choking hazard. The recall applies to 16-ounce packages of the cheese product with a package code of 0 2100061526 1 and a “best when used by” date of February 20, 2021.

The company said that the recall was initiated after it received several consumer complaints about finding the plastic wrapping stuck to a slice. Six people reported that they gagged or choked as a result, but no injuries or serious health problems were reported.

Kraft Heinz said the issue was caused by a “temporary issue” with a wrapping machine at one of its plants, which resulted in a thin strip of the film potentially remaining on some of the processed cheese after it is opened. The company is urging consumers to check their packages for the code and date listed above and discard any affected product.
