A New York judge has signaled a possible change to the trial start date for Donald Trump’s hush-money case, currently scheduled for March 2021. Judge Juan Merchan, who is presiding over the case, wrote in a brief letter that he would no longer hold a conference to discuss scheduling in the Manhattan case, opting instead to hold the discussions on Feb. 15 when the parties meet to discuss motions.

The judge’s decision to postpone the scheduling conference was made in light of the many recent developments involving Mr. Trump and his rapidly evolving trial schedule. Merchan noted that it would not be fruitful to conference the case on September 15 to discuss scheduling.

The former president is currently facing several criminal cases in New York, including a criminal investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office and a civil lawsuit by the New York Attorney General. Trump is also facing a defamation lawsuit in New York, as well as a civil lawsuit in Georgia.

Trump’s legal team has argued that the former president is too busy with his other cases to attend the hush-money trial. However, the judge has yet to make a decision on whether or not to delay the trial. It is unclear at this time if the judge will grant the request to delay the trial or if the trial will proceed as scheduled.
