East Rutherford, N.J. (AP) — Aaron Rodgers’ much-anticipated debut with the New York Jets ended abruptly on Monday night after the 39-year-old quarterback was injured on his fourth snap of the game.

Rodgers was sacked by Buffalo Bills linebacker Leonard Floyd and struggled to get off the turf at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. Cameras showed him limping into the Jets locker room with a boot on his left foot and lower leg.

The Jets announced that X-rays showed there was no break, but Rodgers would not play the rest of Monday night. He was replaced by former Jets starter, Zach Wilson.

“We’re getting him checked out,” Jets coach Robert Saleh told ESPN in a sideline interview.

The injury was a major blow to the Jets, who had high hopes for Rodgers after signing him in the offseason. Rodgers had spent the previous 16 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, where he won a Super Bowl and was named the league’s MVP twice.

The Jets will now have to wait and see how long Rodgers will be out. It is unclear at this time if he will miss any additional games.
