In a rebuke to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis accused the Ohio Republican of attempting to obstruct the prosecution of the racketeering case against former President Donald Trump.

In a letter sent Thursday, Willis, a Democrat, said Jordan’s recent requests for information pertaining to her investigation were an “unjustified and illegal intrusion into a state criminal matter.”

Jordan, a Trump ally, said last month he was launching an investigation into whether Willis coordinated with federal officials when indicting Trump and 18 other defendants for alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia.

Trump was charged in Fulton County last month with felony racketeering and numerous conspiracy charges in the 41-count indictment, which named a total of 19 defendants.

Willis argued that Jordan’s requests for information on the case, including details about any communications between her office and the Biden administration, were beyond the scope of his congressional authority. She also noted that the investigation was ongoing and that any interference could potentially jeopardize the prosecution.

Jordan has yet to respond to Willis’ letter. It remains to be seen if he will continue to pursue his investigation into the Georgia election interference probe or if he will heed Willis’ warning and back off.
