Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has denied a request by indicted former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to have his voluntary surrender deadline deferred. Willis rejected the request in a court filing, stating that she is not granting any extensions.

In addition, a federal court judge in Georgia has denied Jeffrey Clark’s bid for an emergency stay of his Fulton County arrest warrant. Clark, a former Justice Department official, argued that he was entitled to an order blocking the Fulton County District Attorney’s office from arresting him, saying in part he should be given a temporary reprieve since he’s trying to get the case moved from state court to a federal venue. However, the judge ruled that under federal law, state criminal proceedings can continue until the matter is resolved.

Meadows and Clark were both charged alongside former President Donald Trump for participating in a scheme to undo Joe Biden’s 2020 election win in Georgia. Meadows’ lawyers had requested an extension of the voluntary surrender deadline in order to allow a court to first rule on his motion to get his case moved to federal court.
