Simone Biles Triumphantly Returns to Gymnastics with U.S. Classic Victory

Gymnastics superstar Simone Biles made a triumphant return to the sport on Saturday night, winning the U.S. Classic in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. It was her first competition in 732 days, following a two-year layoff after the Tokyo Olympics.

The 26-year-old Biles, who is the most decorated gymnast in the sport’s history with 32 Olympic and world medals, was welcomed back with a sold-out crowd of supporters. She wore a black-and-white bedazzled leotard and displayed a champion’s cool resolve during her warmup session on Friday.

On Saturday, Biles’ all-around score of 59.100 was the best of the night, a remarkable feat considering she had only recently started training again. During her uneven bars routine, she was airborne, rotating, or extended on anything but two planted feet for the better part of a minute.

U.S. Olympic gymnast Jade Carey was inspired by Biles’ return. “It’s really inspiring that she’s able to come back after everything that she’s been through, and I think all of us here look up to her,” said Carey.

Biles’ return to the sport is a testament to her resilience and determination. She has put the case of “the twisties” that forced her to take herself out of multiple events in Japan firmly in her rearview mirror. Her victory at the U.S. Classic is a sign of things to come as she continues to make her mark in the world of gymnastics.
