A 34-year-old homicide suspect who escaped from a northwestern Pennsylvania jail earlier this month has been apprehended after a homeowner in Conewango Township, Pennsylvania discovered him in his backyard, officials said.
According to Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens, the homeowner called authorities just before 4 p.m. Eastern time after his dog began barking and he and his wife went to investigate. Upon arriving at the rear of their property, they encountered Michael Charles Burham, the escaped inmate.
The homeowner recognized Burham and left to contact officials, and Burham fled into the woods. After a short search, authorities were able to apprehend Burham and take him into custody.
Burham had escaped from the Warren County Jail on July 6 and was wanted in connection to several crimes, including the murder of a New York woman. He is currently being held in the Warren County Jail and is awaiting trial.
