Hunter Biden, the second son of President Joe Biden, has agreed to plead guilty to two counts of “willful failure” to pay a grand total of around $200,000 in federal income taxes. He will also enter a pretrial diversion agreement on a gun charge, which is not expected to be prosecuted.

According to court records filed Tuesday, Hunter Biden had earned “taxable income in excess of $1,500,000.00” in 2017 and 2018. Under the proposed deal, Hunter would plea to two counts of willful failure to pay federal income taxes.

Hunter Biden’s attorney, Chris Clark, said in a statement that “it is my understanding that the five-year investigation into Hunter is resolved.” The agreement was reached with a Delaware U.S. Attorney appointed by former President Donald Trump.

Hunter Biden has been the subject of scrutiny due to his past conduct, including years of public drug abuse and shady dealings overseas, including an infamous position on the board of directors of Ukrainian gas firm Burisma. Despite this, GOP researchers have not been able to substantiate any connection between his behavior and that of his politician father.

The plea agreement is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks. It is unclear if Hunter Biden will face any jail time or other penalties.
