On Friday morning, Deputy William Hollingsworth of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office in Pensacola, Florida, was caught on body camera video attempting to rescue a man caught up in floodwaters. The video shows Deputy Hollingsworth rushing to the man’s aid without regard for his own safety.
Unfortunately, both the deputy and the man were swept away and submerged for 30 seconds. The pair traveled nearly 100 feet (30 meters) under four lanes of Highway 98.
The underwater portion of the video is completely dark, filled only with the muffled sounds of rushing water. However, after emerging on the other side, Deputy Hollingsworth is seen calling out to the driver while wading toward him, shouting “Buddy I got you!”

The driver was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery. Deputy Hollingsworth was also taken to the hospital for evaluation and was later released.
