In a tweet, Newsom said, “This isn’t Martha’s Vineyard,” referencing the kidnapping ordinance of the California legislature. DeSantis has yet to comment on the incident, and the origin of the flight remains unclear.

The U.S. government is now allowing nearly 40,000 migrants to be admitted into the country each month through a mobile app. This is part of a larger effort to reduce the backlog of asylum seekers and other migrants waiting to enter the country.
