Manny Hidalgo, a bar patron, told The Daily Sun that he heard the man screaming from the pond area and went outside looking for him in the early morning darkness.
The man was transported by helicopter to a hospital in Fort Myers, where he lost his arm as a result of the attack. Authorities with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office and EMS responded to the incident alongside the state wildlife agency, after receiving a report that a man had been bitten by an alligator.
