Doomsday Mom” Lori Vallow Daybell Faces New Trial in Arizona for Alleged Conspiracy in Husband’s Murder

Lori Vallow Daybell, known as the “doomsday mom,” has returned to court for a separate trial concerning the death of her fourth husband, Charles Vallow. This follows her previous sentencing to life imprisonment in Idaho for the murders of her two children and a romantic rival. The Arizona trial commenced on Monday with opening statements, where Vallow Daybell is facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder.

During the proceedings, Prosecutor Treena Kay argued that Vallow Daybell sought the death of Charles Vallow to improve her own life circumstances. The prosecution alleges that she conspired with her brother, Alex Cox, who fatally shot Charles Vallow on July 11, 2019. Vallow Daybell has pleaded not guilty to the charges and has chosen to represent herself in court.

The jury selection process involved screening approximately 200 potential jurors. However, many were dismissed due to prior knowledge of the case, as reported by AZFamily. This highlights the widespread attention the case has garnered, potentially influencing the jury pool.

In a jailhouse interview with CBS affiliate AZFamily’s True Crime Arizona correspondent Briana Whitney, Vallow Daybell expressed her determination to fight for her life.
