International Search Intensifies for Missing University of Pittsburgh Student in Dominican Republic

International authorities are actively searching for a University of Pittsburgh student who went missing during a spring break trip to the Dominican Republic. The student, identified as Sudiksha Konanki, 20, was part of a group of six female students visiting Punta Cana. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia confirmed that at least two of the students, including Konanki, are residents of Loudoun County, and Konanki is also a citizen of India.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is collaborating with Dominican authorities, as well as state and federal agencies, to locate the missing student. The Embassy of India in the Dominican Republic is also involved, coordinating efforts with Virginia’s state department and law enforcement agencies. The University of Pittsburgh has issued a statement indicating that university officials are in contact with authorities in Virginia to assist in the investigation.

The search for Konanki is being led by the Indian Embassy, given her dual citizenship status. The embassy is working closely with local authorities in the Dominican Republic to expedite the search process. The situation has drawn international attention, highlighting the cooperative efforts between multiple countries to resolve the case.
