Armed Suspect Breaks Into Colorado Judicial Center, Causes Significant Damage and Fires Shots

Early Tuesday morning, an armed man broke into the Ralph L. Carr Colorado Judicial Center in Denver, Colorado, the home of the Colorado Supreme Court and the Colorado Court of Appeals. The incident began when the suspect, an adult male, was involved in a two-vehicle crash and pointed a handgun at the other driver, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The suspect then shot out a window of the building and entered, holding an unarmed security guard at gunpoint. He fired additional shots and started a fire inside the building, resulting in “significant and extensive damage”.

The Colorado State Patrol responded to the scene and the suspect eventually surrendered to police. No injuries were reported.

The Colorado State Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident and has not released any further details. The Ralph L. Carr Colorado Judicial Center is currently closed while the damage is assessed and repairs are made.
