The Republican National Committee (RNC) is facing a significant financial deficit as it heads into the 2024 presidential election year. According to an analysis of the party’s financial records, the RNC has just $7.6 million available, barely a tenth of the $21.3 million it had four years ago when adjusted for inflation.

This financial deficit has caused significant anxiety among party leaders, with Oscar Brock, a committee member from Tennessee, saying “there’s significant anxiety.” The RNC’s financial woes are compounded by former President Donald Trump’s refusal to take part in any GOP debates so far.

In an interview Friday morning, conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt asked Trump if he would debate any Republican challenging him if, after the New Hampshire primary, only one Republican contender remained in the race. Trump responded by saying he would “debate that Republican,” before implying he also might not.

Hewitt then asked Trump if he would debate President Biden if both men are their party’s nominees. Trump replied “How about 10,” before adding that he looks forward to debating Biden.

The RNC’s financial deficit is a cause for concern as the party heads into the 2024 presidential election year. It remains to be seen if the party can raise enough funds to support its presidential nominee and other candidates in the upcoming election.
