Tragedy in Prague: Shooting in University Building Leaves Several Dead and Dozens Wounded

Police in Prague, Czech Republic, have confirmed that a shooting in a university building in the capital city has left several dead and dozens of wounded people.

In a statement released Thursday, police said they had received initial information that there were dead and wounded people at the scene. A subsequent post said the “gunman was eliminated” but that police were still working to evacuate people from the building.

Authorities have urged people to remain indoors and have closed off the entire Náměstí Jan Palach and the surrounding area. An entire building in downtown Prague is also being evacuated.

Police have not yet released the exact number of victims or any other details about the shooting. It is unclear what motivated the attack or if the shooter had any accomplices.
