Florida GOP Chair Christian Ziegler Accused of Rape and Sexual Battery in Sarasota Police Report

The Florida Center for Government Accountability news outlet, the Florida Trident, published a story this afternoon about a sexual assault allegation against the chair of the Florida GOP, Christian Ziegler. The details of the alleged sexual assault were obtained from a heavily redacted police report and anonymous sources close to the investigation.

The police report mentions an accusation of rape and sexual battery that allegedly took place on October 2 in Sarasota. The Florida Trident reported that a woman told the Sarasota Police that she and Christian and Bridget Ziegler have been involved in a three-year-long three-way sexual relationship.

Shortly after the story was published, the Sarasota Police Department released a copy of the report. Ziegler’s attorney, Derek Byrd, confirmed that his client is being investigated by the Sarasota Police Department.

Christian Ziegler is a prominent figure in the MAGA movement and is closely associated with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Ziegler attended a Republican rally in Tampa, Florida, on November 2, 2018.
