Taylor Swift Mourns the Loss of Fan Who Passed Away Prior to Rio de Janeiro Show

Taylor Swift is mourning the loss of one of her fans who passed away prior to her show in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Friday. In an Instagram post, Swift expressed her grief and said that the fan was “so incredibly beautiful and far too young.”

“I can’t believe I’m writing these words but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show,” Swift wrote. “There’s very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young.”

Videos on social media from the performance showed Swift saying people should “take a moment and hold onto each other” in memory of the fan. She said she was unable to speak about the tragedy from the stage as it was too overwhelming for her.

“I want to say now I feel this loss deeply and my broken heart goes out to her family and friends,” Swift said. She is scheduled to do two more shows in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday and Sunday, before shows in São Paulo that begin Nov. 24.

The death of the fan has left Swift and her fans around the world in shock and mourning. Swift has not released any further information about the fan, and has asked for privacy for the family and friends of the deceased.
