The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office announced on Saturday that the last of four inmates who escaped from a Macon, Georgia jail on October 16th has been apprehended.
Joey Fournier, 52, was arrested near Stockbridge, Georgia just before noon on Saturday. He had been on the run since his escape from Bibb County Jail along with three other men, Marc Kerry Anderson, Johnifer Dernard Barnwell, and Chavis Demaryo Stokes.
Fournier was being held at Bibb County jail on a murder charge in connection with the 2022 death of his ex-girlfriend when he and the others escaped. The inmates made their way out of the detention center through a damaged window and a cut fence.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office thanked the public for their assistance in the manhunt and said that the other three inmates had been apprehended earlier in November.
The Sheriff’s Office also thanked the local and federal law enforcement agencies who had worked together to locate and apprehend Fournier. They said that their efforts had been essential in bringing the fugitive to justice.
The Sheriff’s Office said that Fournier will now face additional charges for his escape and that the other three inmates will also face additional charges.
