Desperate Plea for Help: Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza Becomes “War Zone” as Conflict Rages On

Al-Shifa Hospital in the Gaza Strip is facing a dire situation as the conflict between Israel and Hamas militants continues. According to Ahmed El Mokhallalati, head of the plastic surgery unit at the hospital, the area has become “a war zone” and he has issued a plea for help in order to safely evacuate patients.

The Israeli Defense Forces have announced that they will open an evacuation route from Al-Shifa, along with two other hospitals, Al-Rantisi and Al-Nasr. However, the situation has become increasingly dangerous as more than 10,000 people have been killed in relentless Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip since the war erupted after Palestinian militants raided southern Israel on October 7.

The Israeli strikes have pounded Gaza City overnight and into Sunday, with ground forces battling Hamas militants near the territory’s largest hospital. The situation is dire, with vital resources running low and the hospital area becoming increasingly dangerous.

The international community is calling for an end to the violence and for a safe evacuation of patients from Al-Shifa Hospital. The United Nations has urged both sides to protect civilians and medical facilities, and to ensure that medical personnel are able to safely carry out their duties.
