Four Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Employees Found Dead in Possible Suicides Over 24-Hour Period

Four current or former Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department employees were found dead in what are being investigated as suicides over a 24-hour period starting Monday.

On Monday morning, a captain was found dead at his home in Saugus. Hours later, a retired deputy was found dead in the Antelope Valley. A jail official known as a custody assistant was also found dead in the Santa Clarita area.

On Tuesday morning, homicide detectives were sent to a hospital in Pomona, where a current employee was declared dead.

The deaths are unrelated to one another, according to law enforcement sources.

The County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office is investigating the deaths. The office has not yet released the names of the deceased or the causes of death.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has not released any further information on the deaths, but has expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased.
