Judge Rules Ivanka Trump Must Testify in $250 Million Civil Fraud Case Against Father, Donald Trump, and Family Business

A New York judge has ruled that Ivanka Trump must testify in the $250 million civil fraud case against her father, Donald Trump, her brothers, and the family business. The ruling was made by Judge Arthur Engoron on Friday, who sided with the state and cited that Ivanka Trump could not be called as a witness before November 1.

Donald Trump’s attorneys had challenged New York Attorney General Letitia James’ subpoena to Ivanka Trump, noting that an appeals court had ruled earlier this year that she should be dropped as a defendant in the case due to statute of limitations issues. They also argued that the AG waited too long to subpoena her, and contended that the AG’s office was trying “to continue to harass and burden President Trump’s daughter long after” the appeals court “mandated she be dismissed from the case.”

Ivanka Trump had moved out of New York and stepped away from her Trump Organization job in 2017. However, Judge Engoron ruled that she must still take the witness stand in the civil fraud case. The judge gave her time to appeal the ruling if she chooses.
